How to Deal With a Bad Coach

By on 10:09

Most of us at one time are faced with the challenge of having a bad coach. Simply follow these steps and you will continue on the road to success, no matter how bad the coach.

Steps

  1. 1
Respect the coach. no matter how big of jerk they are or are trying to be!! You absolutely must show your coach some form of respect. It may be extremely hard to not lash out but it will benefit you in the long run. The coach is the authority in this situation, so respect the position even if you do not agree with the decisions or direction being taken.

  2. 2
Try your best. It's hard to try your best and preform well when you are taking orders from someone the you can't stand. The temptation to not give it your all -all the time, could lead to less playing time.
  3. 3
Never say anything negative. If you have questions or concerns, approach the coach for a private conversation. Any other comments will just increase the tension and will likely affect playing time.
  4. 4
Consider any multi-year deals. If it's a full time, multi-season coach, it is imperative that you tell the coach what's up and why you feel he is not coaching to the level you expected from him.

  5. 5
Be grateful. Yippee!!! When the season is over, be grateful that you no longer have to deal with that person any more.
